I've followed the FAQ and went to the port forwarding site and set up my dlink DIR-615 router for the TCP/UDP ports 6260 to allow all as shown in the attached screenshot. I am currently running macOS 10.5 and as far as I can tell nothing else should be blocking the game.

When I join certain peoples games, I can see their characters and use the chat box, but my name is grayed out and listed in visitors. I cannot join when I hit the J button; Hitting the button does nothing, no feedback what-so-ever. Also, I've encountered other people with this error, and we cannot connect to each others games. This sounds like a router issue but I honestly am not sure what I've done wrong in the settings.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Exact same problems here.
I have also setup my airportextreme router (I believe) to forward port 6260. Here's my config:
- Mac OSX 10.5.8
- Airportextreme (Latest)
- Firewall is set to allow connections to Mule

Symptoms:
-I cannot host a tournament (no one can connect to me)
-I can (sometimes) connect to other tournaments but I cannot join my player (hitting 'j' does nothing)

EDIT: okay just looked in the firewall log and I'm seeing 'Deny java data in from [ip address]:6260'
Looks like this might be a Mac Firewall issue afterall...anyone have any ideas?

You can check if your port really is open here: http://www.canyouseeme.org/

Thanks for the link and it continues to confirm my ports are not open and my connection continues to time out. I still do not know what I am doing wrong through. As far as I understand the port forwarding site, I have opened 6260. I have allowed all incoming and out going connections for mule in MacOS 10.5 and Windows XP and neither OS can seem to get this game working online with other people. I've even gone so far as to turn off all firewalls and antivirus software, hook directly to the DSL modem, and STILL no luck (and now I'm paranoid at how many security breaches could have happened within that time frame.) This is driving me NUTS.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game. But I am honestly more than a little frustrated at this point.

I have to agree that this all seems like more effort trouble than should be expected from a game, free or not.
I have played Campaign for a long time now (campaigngame.us) and it is a similarly structured, multi player or single player tournament game with rankings and everything, and there is no extra step or workaround.  I have no idea about game coding, so I don't know what's different, but it seems to me (who knows nothing) that MULE should work right out of the box.
