Definately NTSC

Hello Melanie!

From the Wikipedia article : M.U.L.E. was developped for the Atari 400/800 first.

Can you tell me if the original theme song was playing at that speed : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z48FWWCG4dU or at that speed : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWvQQuLPmzg

It has to be noted that the original song was playing faster on a NTSC (60Hz) C-64 computer than on a PAL (50Hz) C-64 computer.  I'm still trying to figure out what was the speed of the original...   Grin

The song remake for Planet M.U.L.E. is playing like if those who made it heard it from a PAL computer (or they listened it from a YouTube clip that was playing the slow version.  I don't know if that speed was intentional or not.

Whatever the speed of the original was, I'm used to listen to it on a NTSC computer and that's why I made the speedier version available.  I hope you better understand why I started that thread.

Cheers!
Rhi

The Atari 800 version definitely played at the speed of the first clip (the faster one)

I really like the Aerobics in the jungle mix, but my favorite rearrangement is the Bitblaster mix from 8 Bit Weapon, which is KICKA**.  I have also heard a variation of the Bitblaster mix, also by the same arranger (Seth Sternberger).  This bitblaster mix is actually on a commercial album, but you can see about it here:

I remember finding the earlier variation of the bitblaster mix here from the old WoM web site here:

I've always preferred the Atari800 version of the theme song, because it had an extra layer of harmony to make the sound fuller.

Listen at 0:45, for example--there's that middle voice doing the triplet rhythm in between the bass's quarters and the straight eighths up high.  I haven't heard that captured in any of the modern remixes or updates.  Sad

The version of the theme included with 1.2 is nice, but it could be that much better with the extra harmony!  Wink

We ripped a copy to our website from a paid copy of the 50Hz PAL so we can listen while on the road.
Don't right click save target as on http://www.interonline.com.au/M.U.L.E._theme.mp3 to download it as it's copyright.
