On the mac, I can frequently put the client into a state where I cannot type into the text bar, escape does not toggle back to the game window, and the game window says "Click or press escape".

Clicking does fix this.

No. Next time, I will try to pay attention to what happens and what I'm doing that makes this happen.

It does happen frequently enough; if I go slowly, I should figure it out.
