In the c64 the race positives/negative were for multi-player games as well. The three i remember right off the bat were humans who started with $600 but were all around better at everything, Flappers got 1600 and were fast i think, The round dude got 1000 at start and I believe it could move really fast over mountains, no delay. They all had something though.

Null, part of me wants to agree with you, while another part of me knows how that game was. I like the dirty low down shit that happens in the game. M.U.L.E. was founded on that shit.
I like it, in fact I love it!
Put your complaints in Mule2 forums. I will not play this game, but I will test Mule2 and see how it goes.
The nastyness of losing a plot in round one and the fires that sometimes that happen.. I love it! Its what I call balance. Shit happens, that is what MULE is.
Cheers! FI

This game even today has tons of potential. I think it could be broadened like, into stock trading, currency, commodities trading and what not. Obviously at a much lower level then the way things really work in society. However, it could be one of the best tools for economics teaching ever made.
Example - Basics Food Electricity Gas Water Infrastructure Steel Cement Plastics Health care Doctors Emergency care Medicine
oh god.. ill just stop there.. im thinking a sim now.
but, the game could be ramped up to cover more aspects of Macro economics.

That was actually kind of cool. Thanks JooJoo
However, its not that the players are cut throat. The nature of the game is cut throat as in business.
Here is a nice Vintage story for you. Once upon a time, I had 6 friends that always wanted to get behind my c64. Before they would come over, they would always ask if I was playing mule. I always said, yep!
We would have 6 guys all piled up in my bedroom and rotate out last place or the last two places so everyone could play.
The shit talk and cut throat would always take place then as well. I actually can remember a couple fist fights breaking out because of cut throat play then.
So, there is definitely nothing new there.
Cheers!, FI

Since I've found mule again. It is the only game I play now. Mule is my long lost love from way back as a 14 year old (26 years ago.)
However, when I played it on the C4. We had constant 4 players going all weekend for a time. 2 on keyboard and 2 on j-sticks.
This game is just way to awesome. Sure, I would like to see a couple mods. 1 being specie bonus'

When you drink as much beer as I do. I definitely need a tracker. I can't remember well enough later in the game. Besides, anyone can make their own tracker with a piece of paper and pencil thats what I did. So, all the tracker does is save a few trees.

Totally awesome! What would be cool is like when the pirates come, your pirate scene or any event for that matter would splash screen on the game for a moment or two. I'm sure some people would hate the pirate cartoon before too long.
You know like when you are at the bowling alley, there is a splash of cartoon of what happen. ie strike split.. etc.
That would be cool

heh Chuck, Dude, if a person was lucky to stumble onto the game back in the 80's and liked it. Then consider US that liked it back then even stumbling on it or thinking about it again. I was like 12 years old when i played it.
