1  M.U.L.E. Community / Player Introduction / Re: HOST CLOSING GAME 11th Month on: May 21, 2010, 14:53
i don't know if he deliberately closed out or not, but it is possible to have a host connectivity issue resulting in the closing down of the game and have the host still appear in the lobby.
2  M.U.L.E. Community / Website, Ranks & Forum / Re: BOT HOLDS TOP SPOT IN WEEKLY TOP 10 on: May 11, 2010, 01:51
it's not the ranking that upsets me - it's the gameplay.

uschi and akire have become ambassadors of this game to new players because they play so many games and seek out 2 bot games. once they eliminate the other human player their games go by faster allowing them quicker turnaround.

unless somebody does something, then USCHI and AKIRE are the FACES OF PLANET M.U.L.E.

and this will lead to ppl leaving to play starcraft or whatever. this reduces the number of available players. ppl don't stay, they don't get better, and then there's no one to play with.

PLEASE SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!!!! FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!! FOR THE FUTURE!!!!

i encourage everyone to read the following chat log:
http://www.planetmule.com/server/chats/chat_game_23152_user_14622.html

this is the first game uschi has lost. he played against trippt and added two bots against trippt's wishes. i have a feeling that the only reason trippt wasn't booted was because he made a stink about uschi's preferred method of victory. instead, trippt waited out uschi's lag for over an hour until uschi finally conceded and abandoned the game.

trippt: of course u will win
uschi: ask the supermasterhost, why he has made such a bad game

if anything this has gotten more blatant since this thread opened. i'm glad i checked my ping before committing to a game with him today cos i totally forgot what an awful person he is.

what happens when more people replicate his behavior in pursuit of ranking? it is already difficult enough to get a game going what with ppl refusing to play noobs or if they can't have the color they want.

can nothing be done about bad hosts?

that's interesting. one of the things i was thinking about is how plots don't make more than...8 or10?...resources each at max. seems like having two players owning half the board each would insure that the plots are making max.

everybody has got to have something to sell to the big producers though, cos everyone would need money to buy up overstock, right?

11  Planet Mule 1 / Matchmaking / Co-op Game Feb 2010 on: February 11, 2010, 15:09
Hello.

I'm interested in playing a co-op game with ppl who are already hip this weekend; where "co-op" means we are colluding for the highest possible colony score and "hip" means you already have a feel for the economy and can roll with random events. I can host and we'd want everyone to have good pings cos an AI coming in would screw the system.

Was talking about this with C64 and there are two ways this might work. One way is for each person to monopolize a resource from round one; although in looking at the other co-op post in here it might make more sense to forgo crystite. The other is that we are all self-sufficient and take a corner of the board but still collude to maximize profits.

Either way it seems like we should try to huddle our lots together and decline auctions to keep the smithore price rolling naturally as long as possible.

I've only been playing for a month and would like to hear anyone's thoughts or experiences from previous attempts and try to find other ppl interested in this.

thanks,

12  Planet Mule 1 / Bugs 1.2.1-3 / abandonment issues on: February 11, 2010, 10:27
Hello,

On February 5th I hosted a game that totally stalled out before we could even claim plots. Rather than kick the lagging user we decided to end the game. The link is here:

http://www.planetmule.com/hi-score-game/game?game_id=17738

I was hoping that since we didn't even pick plots I could have that abandonment removed. Also, even if I can't because I was the host, could the players RZPolaris, C64nostalgia, and comradekangaroo have the abandonment struck from their records? I'm guessing their abandonments are from the lobby clearing thing in the previous post.

ALSO, this game:
http://www.planetmule.com/hi-score-game/game?game_id=15658

We completed the game but for some reason it identified all of us as abandoning the game. Waldo210 timed out, but c64nostalgia, hightekvagabond, and myself made it to the end.

I don't abandon so I'd rather my profile show that, but it isn't the biggest deal in the world, you know? Thanks if you can help.

Hello. My name is Tristan. I live in NYC. My console as a kid was the Atari 400, so I've never heard of or played MULE before coming to this site. I have no happy memories of MULEs gone by beyond the joys I've come to know in the past month. I am obsessed with death and I like to watch things on TV. My strategy for winning MULE games is to try and chat with people right before they start their turns so that they are too distracted to play well.

UGH. Now I have hiccups.

Allah Akbar,
