Title: Re: Mule doesn't work after java update (mac lion) Post by: Chuckie Chuck on June 20, 2013, 17:32 I am not sure of what the next step is yet. I have to do some more research. I did not have my MAC with me when I got your email, but I will take it home with me tonight and investigate. My Lepard based MAC still works fine, but I have not tried my Lion based MAC, which I know is fully updated, so I expect I should be able to duplicate the issues.

@the rest of planet mule community: no one else updated java? I can't be the only one with this problem. I see games going steadily like normal, I'm a little confused. ??? Title: Re: Mule doesn't work after java update (mac lion) Post by: Peter on June 24, 2013, 07:12 This is a common issue on Oracle's Java 7 on Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.8.
The simplest solution is to go back to using Apple's Java version 6. You can do it like this: To uninstall the Java 7 internet plugin (Java 7 JRE): Go to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and delete the JavaAppletPlugin.plugin bundle. To uninstall the Java 7 JVM bundle (Java 7 JDK): Go to /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/ and delete anything whose name starts with jdk1.7.0 Install a Java 6 runtime: Open http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp Your browser will show a security warning. Click the button to allow the Java applet to run. You will be asked to install Java 6 for OS X from Apple. Now you should be able to Play Planet Mule again :) Title: Re: Mule doesn't work after java update (mac lion) Post by: beeman on June 24, 2013, 11:47 I deleted those files... but then it just asks you if you want to install java 7 again. Java 6 does not seem to be available. There is a archive page, but I dont see anything for mac there. The Mac Software Update automatcally goes to v7 too.
Title: Re: Mule doesn't work after java update (mac lion) Post by: Chuckie Chuck on June 24, 2013, 17:57 Yeah, I got a warning on my mac that once Java 7 was installed, Apple Java would no longer be available, scared to let it update.
Title: Re: Mule doesn't work after java update (mac lion) Post by: beeman on June 24, 2013, 18:05 I uninstalled java and just tried to open mule and that did work (prompted me to install 6 from there). Thanks Peter!. If anyone else has same issue, just delete the files and open mule. Going directly to Software Update will only give 7 as a choice I think.
Title: Re: Mule doesn't work after java update (mac lion) Post by: beeman on June 24, 2013, 23:23 Ok I guess I still can't actually join a tournament. I hope didn't muck something up deleting the files. I think I may have deleted the contents of the "HD/Library....JavaVirtualMachines" folder in addition to "SYSTEM/Library....JavaVirtualMachines" folder. I repeated the original steps after I did that but it didn't replace that folder with any files during reinstall.
Any ideas? I was able to play a training game just fine but could not 'join' tournament |
