To access the internet, I use a WiFi network. This connects my computer to a router that connects it to the internet. There is a flaw in the current version that, if on an internal network, when you host, the game uses your internal IP. This is a problem in that all web connection are made using the external IP. No one will be able to connect to my game if the game thinks my IP is 127.0.0.1. Even if i could forward my ports properly, this would keep me from hosting. Is there any way to fix this, short of using a different computer?

Your external IP address is determined by the master server (planetmule.com). If your IP turns up as 127.0.0.1 when you host then the master server can't connect to your computer and your game will not show up in the game list. Note that the IP will initially always read 127.0.0.1 until your external address has been verified.

To fix this you must (1) forward the port 6260 from your router to your computer, (2) allow TCP and UDP traffic, both incoming and outgoing connections, on port 6260 through your firewall (if you have a firewall enabled) and (3) allow TCP and UDP traffic on port 6260 through your Anti-Virus program if you have one.

After starting Planet Mule and hosting a game you can check if your setup is correct by typing your external IP address into this tool:

I have the same crash problem that happens randomly when I chat. It seems to have like a 1% chance of happening if I chat during play.  So I can get through a whole game without crashing -- or sometimes it crashes.  And ONLY if I chat!

I'm also on Mac OSX.  It never happens on my windows box.

Any ideas why?

Also.. how do I post crash logs?

Thanks for the report.

To look at the error log you can simply link the game you played. You can find all your online game sessions in your profile.

Those will not include all crashes though. If you get a crash where the game simply closes without any message, then a log file will be generated. Doktorbuzzo was kind enough to write a detailed explanation of how to find those log files:

I guess you experience the same issue as Doktorbuzzo so we do lready have detailed logs of that. Though, you can post your log as well if you want to.
