Title: When you disconnect and a player is loading a mule with an item the sound stays Post by: WhoosThis on December 08, 2010, 01:08 When you disconnect and someone is loading a mule, it might happen with other sounds too, the sound sticks and keeps playing. If you join a new game, the sound still plays. You have to quit the application to stop it.
I am using OS X 10.6.5 java version "1.6.0_22" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_22-b04-307-10M3261) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.1-b03-307, mixed mode) I have heard other players who have the same problem. It has happened to me a couple of times. Title: Re: When you disconnect and a player is loading a mule with an item the sound stays Post by: dynadan on December 09, 2010, 01:16 I can verify this happens with just about every sound when you disconnect in the middle of a game.
I always thought the music continuing to play pregame when you play 2 games or more in a row was a different issue, but Chuckie Chuck may be right and it might be the same issue. The disconnect thing doesn't come up very often because disconnecting is pretty rare, but anything that can get rid of that annoying pregame music would be greatly appreciated by all the regular players. It's much less useful as a workaround, though, if the game takes a long time to start (as they often do), and so you'd rather be able to put MULE in the background and do other things until it does. But turning the sound off means you can't hear when other players join the game. For this reason, and also because when players go for break mid-game, the music loops endlessly, I'd really love the option to disable the MULE theme song (but not the other sounds) during the game. Or just make the song play once and then stop... there's pretty much no reason to have it loop endlessly. Nobody likes the tune THAT much! It usually isn't a problem for me because I run dual head on my
computer when I'm at home, so mule is on the second screen (it's my laptop, and I run mule on the laptops internal screen regardless of if my external is hooked in or not. It is easier to look at the game on it rather than my 19" Sony CRT running at 1600x1200 res. The sony is just a little strong on the red tone, and I like the cooler feel of the LCD for mule, not to mention, mule just is easier at a lower res, and I could kick the CRT down to 1280x1024 and scale the same as my 1280x800 LCD, but why sacrifice desktop space? I keep the browser open on the CRT.) I do believe if you just pull the ogg file out of data.jar, you will have the pleasantness of no more mule music, ever. I did that a while back, and it was great until the next update came out, need to do it again, lol. When I'm listening to other music on winamp, it can be an annoyance at the end of each round to get the music mixed with mule theme music. I've noted that this issue should be fixed for the next release.
