AppImage: A new, completely self-contained Linux format

We are happy to announce, it is now more easy than ever (at least for Linux users), to enjoy playing Planet M.U.L.E. without the hassle of setting up your system with the right Java, packages, etc.:
Introducing a completely self-contained AppImage version, simply download one file, make it executable (usually right-click in your filemanager and check the option under “permissions”) and double-click the file to start playing:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/planetmule/files/1.3.6/planetmule-1.3.6_202002182011-amd64.AppImage

This file contains all libraries, java runtime components and sound libs, so you can enjoy the game with just a double-click.
You can move and start it anywhere, as it never “installs” anything to your base system.
This should work regardless which distro you use it on (Ubuntu, openSuse, Redhat, Arch/Manjaro, Debian, etc.) and should work on all desktop environments (KDE Plasma, Gnome, XFCE, Budgie, Mate, Deepin,…).

You can read more about AppImage here:

To best integration into your Linux system, use this little helper tool:

If you encounter any issue, please post a comment here or in the forums!

Happy M.u.l.e.ing!
